Glen Sandfur
Glen "Doc" Sandfur of Shawnee died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 90.
He was born Dec. 23, 1910, in Shelbyville, La. He was the son of Elmer and Vadna (Taylor) Sandefur.
He was reared in the South Bend, Ind., area. He had lived in Seminole and Pottawatomie County areas for many years and had recently moved to Shawnee. He was also a railroad worker and auto mechanic.
Sandfur was in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Hubert Sandfur; sons, Marion Baker, Jimmy "Geronimo" Sandfur and Benjamin "Buck" Harjo; his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his spouse, Daisy Lorene Sandfur of Earlsboro; six daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Jimboy of Konawa; Glenda and Shorty Snodgrass of Konawa; Shirley and Eddie Watkins of Ada; Rebekah Long and Steven Bolster of Earlsboro; Beverly Handshaw of Waldron, Ark.; Myra and James Sheppard of Shawnee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Sonya Sandfur of Shawnee; Frank and Shirley Sandfur of Earlsboro; two sisters, LouBell Jaronkia and Bonnie Fleming; brother, Chester Sandfur, all of Mishawaka, Ind.; 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vamoosa Cemetery with Rev. Barney Gibson and Rev. Sandy Harjo officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday.
Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
