I'm very interested in hearing your working theory on a possible connection to the Capt. Jesse Saunders of NC. Was he in Lincoln County also? What time period are we talking about?
There was a Jesse Saunders who resided in Albemarle/Fluvanna County of Virginia who was old enough to be a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He was the son of Julius Sanders/Saunders and I have reason to suspect he is related to my DNA group that were born in New Kent circa 1700 and ended up in Albemarle/Buckingham County around 1740. The given names handed down in this group and yours are very interesting. You mentioned four brothers named George, Willis, Stephen & James. In my line the names Stephen and James were passed down repeatedly over several generations, and they lived on Willis' River in Albemarle/Buckingham. Also there was a George connected to the Julius Saunders I who think may have been a cousin to my line. I'd have to look at my notes, but I think George was a son.
A lot of coincidences with given names between your line and mine. I'd sure like to see you upgrade to a better DNA test (I've never heard of a $10 test before, but can't imagine it would offer much information). I'd recommend at least a 37 marker test. I took my with Family Tree DNA through the Sanders surname project. If you are interested in going this route, please contact me by email and maybe we can work something out.
