We knew only from a family bible that our George W. Sandoe's father was William Sandoe born in 1815. And that his mother was Nancy. We had been stuck there for years. Then we found a brother of George who died as a child buried in a cemetery in Perry County Ohio - we found him because he was noted as being the son of Rev. William and Nancy Sandoe. That prompted me to write to the Perry County Historical Society. They found a baptism for a Wilhelm Sandoe born 1815 in the "Records of The St. David's Evangelical Reformed Congregtion - Killinger, Lykens Valley, Upper Paxtang Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania 1774-1830" Birth: December 3, 1815 Child:Wilhelm Sandoe Father: Abraham Sandoe Mother:Anna Sponsors: Charles Sandoe and Sarah
That area of Pennsylvania is where my Grandfather, Clyde Sandoe had always said his ancestors came from and, indeed, that area of the country seems to have the largest population of Sandoe's in the nation from what I have found so far.William was a traveling minister - references can be found by just doing a search for "history of the church of God" on the net. And, the note in our family bible (not in my possession) confirms George's father was a minister.
I would deeply appreciate any information you might have that you can share on the family.
