I have some more information about Paul de Santamaria and our potential Jewish roots. Apparently he was born in Burgos about 1351 and died 1435. His Jewish name was Solomon ha-Levi and his fathers name was Isaac ha-Levi from either Aragon or Navarre. From what I read, Paul was inspired to Christianity by the writings of Thomas of Aquinas. He was baptized, along with several other members of his family in 1390. Here is the most extraordinary thing: He got a degree in Theology from the University of Paris, became Bishop of Cartagena and later became the well known Archbishop of Burgos. Another amazing thing was that his second son Alfonso followed in his footsteps. If anyone needs a translation in Spanish, let me know!
