Priscilla,
You say that your branch of the Sanville family originated in Manchester, England? That is very strange and unusual to me.If that's true, you must be descended from another branch of completely different Sanvilles. My branch of the Sanville family, (the largest one, I believe, since I've been able to connect woth most other Sanvilles I've contacted), originated in Quebec as a sort of spinoff of the surname Senneville, which came from several generations of men with the surname Lefebvre dit Senneville. The Senneville/Sanville surname then spread across Quebec and south into Vermont, as well as west into Michigan and Wisconsin. The two major branches of Sanvilles in the United States are currently in the Wisconsin/Michigan area and the Vermont/New Hampshire area. They do have a common ancestor, Michel Sanville, born in Londonville, Quebec in 1805.Sanvilles living in New York state who changed their name to avoid anti-semitic persecution and Sanvilles who immigrated from United Kingdom are both news to me, because I thought we were the only branch of Sanvilles in existence.
