Hi, the first Sasso to arrive in Perú was Antonio Maria Sasso who came from Gurra in Genova in 1813, son of Nicolas Sasso. I'm the sixth generation of descendants of this gentleman. We have a family book in which all of the male family members entered their names, the names of their wifes and children.
Soon after arriving in Perú Antonio María Sasso bought big extensions of land in Lima and started different buisnesses all of which provided him with a big fortune most of which was lost during the war Peru had with Chile in 1879.
While all of this history is known and original papers exist it's still a mystery why he changed the name to Sacio, or perhaps it was changed by local authorities when filling in documents.
I haven't been able to find Gurra in the current maps or in the internet thus this is as far as I have gotten in relation to my family. Would you know anything about this branch of the Sasso family? Thanks
