Doris,
I do not have documentation of Margaret Satcher's parents but I do have pretty good documentation on the other Satchers of Edgefield Co. SC.Samuel Satcher son of Robert Satcher was born between 1740 and 1747 (only son of John Satcher of Bucks Co. Pa) came to Edgefield Co before 1782.He had following sons:Amos Watson Satcher, Hezekiah Satcher, Willis Satcher, Robert Satcher, Silas MoreSatcher, Arthur Satcher, and Samuel Satcher.I have info on the children of these sons except for son Samuel Satcher. No Margaret or Peggy is listed as a child of the other sons therefore I believe that Margaret is the daughter of Samuel Satcher who was struck by lightning in Bibb Co. Ga in 1830 (he was on the 1830 census) leaving 10 minor children with one daughter married. They had come to Ga in the past year. His married daughter was in SC.I have not found any estate papers or guardianship papers for these children.Samuel is shown as having one slave in 1830 so it would seem that there would be some property records.
I can share info on others if you are interested. If you find anything on this Samuel please let me know.(There is another Samuel Satcher who was the son of Arthur Satcher who died abt 1848.)1st Samuel had two borthers Robert who had no children and John whose children went to Ohio. The only other Satcher for the time period was a William Satcher who served in the colonial army and whose family went to Kentucky or Ohio, I think.
All of the Satchers in SC, GA, Ala, and Miss and points west appear to be descendants of Samuel Satcher (b. 1740-1747)
Horace
