A few years ago, I was sent a copy of a picture of the John Saum (Frederick Saum's son) family in front of the old Saum family home. It was a two story brick structure with a chimney at both ends. It also had a balcony across the front. A while later we were blessed to be able to visit Highland County. We had understood that this house was still standing. We found three such houses, almost exactly alike in the area of Allensburg (the area the Saums family had settled). They said there had been another one, but it had burned. We were allowed to enter and look around in one of the houses on Hwy. 50 at the eastern edge of Allensburg. We were still confused as to which house might have been my ancestor's (even thinking it might have been the one that burned). Later, after returning home, I found a little note which had come with the picture stating that the Saum house was located west of Hillsboro on Hwy. 50 near Allensburg.
What I would like to find out is, "Does anyone know the history of this house or anything about it that might be beneficial for our Saum research, and is it truly still standing on Hwy. 50?"
