I heard an interesting folk story about the first Mennonie Sawatzky and the story goes something like this.
It seems that at about the time of the beginning of the Mennonite movement in the Netherlands, that two Slavic princess were sailing on the North Sea and were shipwrecked. The princess were named Sawatzky and were taken in by a Dutch Mennonite family.
Has anyone heard a similar story and if so can you add any details to what I heard.
Has anyone a different explanation of the Sawatzky name being included in the Mennonite community?
