I think the name in my line of Syre is possibly Sayre. This line starts with Elizabeth Syre married to Freeman Runyon 1-10-1851 in Metcalf County, KY.Freeman filed a marriage bond along with Thomas Syre.I believe that Elizabeth lived with Thomas since she was a small child, but I am not sure that he is her father. Freeman died in the Civil War and later Elizabeth filed for his pension. In those documents, Thomas E. Syre, son of Thomas, stated that he knew both Freeman and Elizabeth since he was a young boy and that they were married in his father's, Thomas, home.
Joseph Runyon, Freeman's father, was married to an older Elizabeth Syre. I think this Elizabeth, Thomas, and Archibald Syre may be bothers and sister.Archibald is married to a Runyon also (1850 KY census). I also find an older female Martha Syre starting in the 1810 Barren County, KY census and an Eliza Syre, 35 yrs., living with Joseph and Elizabeth Syre Runyon in the 1850 Barren County, KY census.
This Runyon lineage comes from Vincent Rongnion (Runyon) who lived in and around Elizabeth and Piscataway, New Jersey during the late 1600s on.Your Daniel Sayer, son of Daniel, Joseph, Thomas, married Anna Runyon, daughter of Richard,Peter, Vincent. So it seems the Runyons and the Sayer probably knew each other.Piscataway and Sayreville are near each other on the same side of the Raritan River.Any help connecting the Sayre name as Syre is greatly appreciated!!
