Julie Scavo, 50, an Old Forge resident most of her life, died Wednesday morning at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born March 2, 1952, in Scranton, daughter of the late Santo and Ann Jake Scavo, she was a 1970 graduate of Old Forge High School. She was employed as a medical secretary in the offices of Dr. Eli Stavisky, Dr. Albert Giallorenzi and Dr. Christopher Kotchick, and was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Old Forge.
She adored her grandchildren and simply loved to spend time with them. Among the pastimes in her life that she held in high regard were reading and traveling.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Yocum, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Jaime Yocum, Old Forge; a brother, Santo Scavo, Old Forge; two grandsons; and nieces and a nephew.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, South Main Street, Old Forge, by the Rev. Dr. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor. Interment and committal rites, Old Forge Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
