The Paul Schauer for whom I have data was born in 1821 and married his 1st wife Rosa in 1849, by whom he had three children (including a daughter Rosina, born 26 February 1857, most likely in St. Paul, MN). Paul came to America in 1854; lived in Toledo for two years; and resided for 4 years (1856-1860) in St. Paul, and worked for the Pioneer [Press?]. In 1860, he and his family moved to Arlington Township, Sibley Co. He appears in the 1870 census for Arlington Twp at age 40 (born 1830), with daughter Rosa age 12 and son Louis age 8. However the May 1875 state census for Arlington Twp. indicates a Paul Schauer, age 54 (born 1821); wife Rosa age 51; daughter Rosa age 18; and a daughter named Louisa, age 14! Paul Schauer got remarried in 1878; his first wife Rosa died in about 1877. Are we dealing with two different Paul Schauers, or is the census exhibiting its normal errors? Paul's daughter Rosina married August Louis Wentzlaff on 8 January 1878 in Arlington, MN. Rosina Schauer Wentzlaff died on 25 September 1944 in Arlington, age 87 years, 6 months, and 27 days; August Louis Wentzlaff died in Arlington on 22 July 1930. I have other Wentzlaff, Vick, and Trick family data to share. Hope to hear from you!
