Schenck founders among the Cape Dutch
Schenck was a “Stamvader” (founding father) surname among the Cape Colony Dutch, South Africa. Schenck is listed at a fledgling Cape Dutch yDNA project; no Schenck yDNA is on file there yet.www.familytreedna.com/public/CapeDutch/default.aspxI don’t know if anyone knows whether the founding Schenck was from the Schenck Van Toutenburg line, or the Schenck Van Nydeggen line, or another line altogether. I think that some German Schenck people also appeared at some point in that colony.
Four Schenck-surnamed men currently have yDNA on file with Family Tree DNA. If these guys would kindly reveal their ancestry and send their yDNA results to a public project, Schenck research could be substantially advanced. Thanks.
