Geeze Luce,I'd think you'd have better things to do than to explore "Schlauch" on the internet.I'd also think that your father could fill you in on what the name means.It refers to any flexible tube.Eg. in my old Capri (German) the various hoses including the one leading from the exhaust manifolds were labled "schlauch."Likewise, the tubes in my bike tires are "schlauch."
Your cousin Mike went to Ellis Island and noted the name "Adam Schlauch" having arrived around 1890.That would be your greatgrandfather.
