Hello All. For a long time I've been seaching for any of my ancestors but the surname "Sinneck" has no leads beyond my father. His father was an orphan and for a long time we believed that the surname was fabricated or altered by immigration. After studying a friend's last name (Schneck) and researching it on the web and seeing that there was another spelling (Schnick), I think my search is done.
What I do know about my cultural background is that I have Austrian and Polish in my blood.
So I have two requests for all you good people
1. Have you ever come across one of the Schneck clan whose last name was tailored in immigration to Sinneck? We pronounce it about the same as Schneck, but with two distinct syllables. 2. If so, my orphan grandfather Michael Sinneck (now dead) lived in Brooklyn NY and had a wife, Agnes Sinneck (also deceased), and two children Michael and Marie Sinneck (now Cincotta). Of those with Schneck relatives in NY born or young around the American depression era is there a Michael Schneck missing from your lineage?
I'll try and get more information from my father about the situation.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd like to know where I come from.
