I am trying to find any information on my grandfather Elbert Elliott Schoenbaechler and, more importantly, his father, William Meinrad Schoenbaechler. My family doesn't know anything about him really, except that he spoke Dutch/German, was a Catholic, couldn't speak English that well, and that we think he came from Switzerland. Given the large number of Einsiedeln Schoenba(e)chlers, it is probable. But our information stops there for some reason. I was wondering if William's name was changed at immigration, or if someone out there can trace him to our family. Since Augustin S. and Joseph Alderich S. had so many descendants--a good Catholic family about a dozen children each, and have descendants traced to Louisville(I have found a large tree that someone else has researched), I was wondering if I could actually trace my family back to them. My mother is Nancy Ann Harvey, nee Schoenbaechler; she has one brother Bruce, who still resides in KY, who has two sons, David and Chris. My other side (Harvey) has more than thorough documentation. But it would be a great present to give my mom a genealogical chart for Christmas, or even better, an excuse for me to go to Einsiedeln.
