My great grandfather, John Scholtes, worked as a radio dispatcher for the Chicago Police Department. I believe he was also a disc jockey for a while.
My grandfather, John R. Scholtes, was in the Air Force during WWII in Brazil, the Acension (sp?) Islands, and a few other places. He also worked at Bally/Midway Pinball where he met my grandmother Doris, at Teletype, then at East Leyden High School in Elmwood Park, IL. He passed away in 1995.
My father, John P. Scholtes, Sr., worked at teletype, then founded Kelly Klowns Club in Chicago. He toured as a clown with Carden International Circus for a few years as "Alphabet the Clown". He then came home and bought TC's Trick Shop on Lawrence Ave. in Chicago around 1983 changing the name to All American Joke and Party Shop. He found out he had Multiple Sclerosis in or around 1986, and passed away in 1996.
