It's great that you met Viktor. My mother always knew that my grandfather had a cousin Viktor who was an artist, but I only recently found out exactly who he is and how amazing his work is.After I saw the web site about the exhibit, I sent off for a catalog.
From the research I've seen, David's father was Jacob Schrecengost, Jr., and his mother was Jacob's second wife, Hannah Houser.(His first wife was Christiana ? who died in 1837).I think some researchers have Jacob Jr. tied to a Jacob Sr. whose line goes back to Yost, but I really haven't had a chance to research it myself yet.
I have several newspaper articles about David which were written in his later years and which give a lot of detail about his family and his war record.I also sent off for and received his Civil War pension file.
I actually live in Texas, but I was born in Virginia.Annie Jane Schrecengost married James Tittle Hood and later moved to Nottoway Co., VA., where my grandfather David Alexander Hood was born.
I can't remember off-hand who Alan is, but I'll check my records and get back to you.Have you heard of the baseball player Ossee Schrecengost mentioned in the catalog?I found out about him on the internet, but I can't seem to fit him into Warren's family.
I hope we can exchange information. You can reply here or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
