Private graveside service for Gabriel H.K. Schubert, 83, was Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington.Mr. Schubert, who died Sep 16, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Hawaii and Hawaii Business College.Mr. Schubert was the secretary to the territorial governor for Hawaii.He served in the Army during World War II with the 117th Combat Engineers.He served for three years in the Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star.After Mr. Schubert was discharged from the Army and was sent to Washington D.C. to work for the Land Office.In 1945 he married Viola Bridgeford.He moved to Nevada and was named adjudicator for the Confederated Tribes of Central Nevada.He retired to Farmington in 1972.He was a member of the Catholic church.His wife preceded him in death.Survivors include a son, John Schubert of Vashon Island, WA; a daughter, Christine Mikalson of Farmington; five brothers, Alfred Kovner of Honolulu, Gustave Schubert of Concord,CA, James Schubert of Santa Maria, CA, Lawrence Schubert of Grover Beach, CA and Michael Schubert of Phoenix; and two granddaughters.
