There may be a kinship between us. I received a pamphlet from one of my relatives about how our family started. It said that our family actually started in Fort Gaines, Georgia. A slave girl named Sophie Simmons was conceived by her master named William "Billy" Alexander. She had two mulatto boys by this man. Later through adolescence, the boys were sold in the slave trade in lower Alabama around the Clay County area that is near the Clayhatchee county line and now land that is known as Bell and Sconiersville, Alabama where both boys settled and started their families.
