I looked at that link, and I just don't think that Richard Scotten is Richard Scott --- as you say, a lot of big "ifs".
As for the name of the ship, I came across it in a posting #829 by Dana Weeden on the Lucas Family Forum. The posting was dated 1999 and I've not heardback from her. Probably won't! You might try just Googling the name of the ship?
BTW have you come across that William Scott, son of John Scott 1659-1724 Charles Co., MD. William was mature and had children at the time of his father's death. John's will is in Folio 175, dated 9/3/1724-1/26/1724, Charles Co.Register of Wills A2,i. Ruth Foreman has info on this family on Ancestry.com under "Family Trees". I can't recall what became of William, but for some reason, I discounted his being my William.
