Hi Lavinia: I too am glad to hear from you!I think we can help each other.Let me first run down what we have determined to date.I have been trying to determine which of the SCOUT families Jonathan, born May 14, 1807, belongs to, for quite some time. There are inquiries into Phila. Court house records by my partner in the SCOUT research to check on Wills, LOA, etc.Maybe something will surface there. We think this Jonathan SCOUT (with no hard evidence yet) could be descended as a grandson of Aaron SCOUT, who was an Ensign in Rev. War. and is on register of DAR.Aaron's wife was Sarah GILBERT.Aaron's daughter Rebecca SCOUT married Peter NEFF and descendant's of these NEFF's made applications to the DAR based on Aaron SCOUT as the Patriot. The problem we have encountered is that genealogy of the NEFF family indicates that Aaron SCOUT and Sarah GILBERT had 10 children. We can't find the names or ID of any of the other 9 children in any records yet!We think that Jonathan SCOUT (died Jul 12, 1881 Phila.) married to Susanna HOLGATE was the son of Jonathan SCOUT Sr. (died Apr 4, 1832 St. Thomas Episcopal Church, WhiteMarsh Twp, Montgomery Co., PA).Jonathan SCOUT, the Sr., was married to Sarah WOOD. And we "suspect" that Jonathan SCOUT (Sr.) was a son of Aaron SCOUT and Sarah GILBERT.Baptismal or evidence of birth records for any other children born to Aaron Scout and Sarah Gilbert have eluded us so far. No Will or Admin. for Aaron SCOUT or his wife Sarah GILBERT has surfaced anywhere outside of Phila.Rebecca SCOUT NEFF is the only one documented.Any research further into the HOLGATE lineage seemed to be a wild goose chase on finding any reference to the SCOUT family as well.
GILBERT is also found mixed in this SCOUT lineage with another person. There was a widow, Elizabeth, of an Unknown SCOUT, who married Nathan GILBERT. Nathan GILBERT is purported to have died in 1786 in Berkley, VA."Nathan Gilbert and Elizabeth Scout (Widdow) both of Warminister township, Bucks County were married November 18th 1772 by the Revd. William VanHorn".
Where do we go from here?
