The Mary Scully who arrived on the SS Germanic in 1887 is my great grandmother. Her name was actually Mary Ann and her maiden name was McKenzie. The name of her husband was William Scully. William was a bricklayer who came to New York about 1881 and then would return to England during the winter months. In 1887 he sent for his family to join him. My grandfather was the Philip on the SS Germanic, his full name being Philip Joseph Scully. There was another child, Ann Scully, who is listed at number 489 on page 6 of the Germanic manifest. Ann is listed as being a citizen of England while the rest are listed as citizens of Ireland.Actually they all were Irish but were born in England. Both Mary Ann's parents and William's parents had emigrated from Ireland to England. They must have boarded the Germanic at Liverpool, because the town where they lived was Rochdale in Lancashire County, England.
