My mother's maiden name was Sedlak. Her father, my grandfather's first name was Jacob. He came from Austria-Hungary just before the 1st WW, and settled in Michigan.Early in the 1900's he came to NY and remained until his death in 1971. To the best of my knowledge, all the Sedlaks were from Westchester County, NY.The areas would be Croton, NY, Peekskill, NY, Ossining, NY.I have 2 male cousins: James Sedlak and Ronald Sedlak.James is about 58.Ronald is about 52.While both have male children, none could be old enough to be your father.I know of no Kenneth Sedlak whatsoever.
I recall being told by my grandmother (Jacob Sedlak's wife) that the name was originally something different than Sedlak. She said it was either Sedlach, or perhaps Sedlach, with the gutteral sounding German sounding "ock" at the end.My grandfather also had a brother, my great uncle Pete.He apparently was the family "black sheep" and left the NY area many years ago (before 1940?).There was also a Frank Sedlak in my family, also a brother to my grandfather.I think his only son was also Frank.
Sorry I could not be of more help.I'm always looking also to find out anything I can about the Sedlaks.Good Luck!!
Bob M.
