Thanks so much for getting in touch.I've been looking at Martha Jane Seigler Mays and her husband Andrew for quite a while, but haven't made a lot of headway.A number of years ago I was in touch with a couple of descendants of Andrew and Martha J., but they hadn't been able to confirm who the parents of either were. All I know is that:
*they both were born in SC, * Andrew served in Company K, 52nd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry from Franklin County, GA * since 1-year-old Thomas was the first child born in GA, they must have been in SC until about 1859 *next door was John Robert Seigler, son of John Seigler (and probably an earlier wife, maybe not Permelia) and his family so there must be a Seigler family connection *and, the names that Andrew and Martha J. give their children (except for Andrew!) are the same names that occur in the John Seigler family (the woman who I suspect is Permelia's mother was Martha Jane Gilmer).
I would love to share any information at al that you might have about the Mays.Do you have any idea who Elizabeth Smith was (the80-year-old who was living with them in Franklin County)?
