Only wish I had more for you!I agree with you that it looks like Jeremiah b. 1825 is Mary's son and it definitely seems that Lingan and Mary had a daughter older than Jeremiah, as well.Chances are Mary died when Abraham was born in 1829?
Chances also good that Lingan married Jane right away, as they did back then, with a farm and babies to take care of.She could have been a neighbor or at his church. For now, I am going with this theory.Looked at Jeremiah and Elisha living next to each other in 1860 Burton, Adams County.Jeremiah's only daughter named Mary, so this looks right. You might keep an eye out for the elder daughter's name to be either Drucilla or Rebecca, Lingan and Mary's mothers' names, or--Mary.Back to 1820 Pike County, Indiana:I saw a Fowler website that listed many--many--Fowlers living with and beside Selbys on that census. They also had Z. F. listed so we have to search and see if there WAS a Z. F. Selby, or if this could be our L. F.?Apparently a lot of Selbys went to Indiana very early in its history. Many of them were not from KY, so wonder if the branches of the family were meeting up?Have you ever emailed with Grady Wait who has posted on this forum? He has a lot of Selby information and might be a help.Mary Beard Selby had a brother, James Beard, who married a Mary Selby in Adair County, KY--just to stir the mix some--and Grady descends through them as well as other connections.Let me know if anything new turns up, I will do the same.Have you followed all the children through all the censuses?
