Re: selveys in UK

HI,There are alot of Selvey,s in the England,especially around the Birmingham area.My Granfather William Selvey was born in Warwickshire,My father Geoffrey Selvey was born in Birmingham and now lives in Cheltenham,Glos.I was born in Gloucester in 1958,lived in Lincolnshire for 23yrs and since December 2001 live in Pennsylvania,USA.
I am very interested in finding out any information on the surname,I was once told that it originates from France,came here with William the conquerer and was spelt..selve.
Any Ideas?
