the original chrstmans came from wutemberg, germany, and settled near sigmund's furance, close to berks co. line, where philip christman was born. his father was killed in an accident. after the accident the mother married francis wesco.
philip christman married and had 9 children, 6 sons and 3 daus. his son john henry. was born feb. 1777. when john henry was 4 weeks old his father moved to berks co.when john was a young man he moved to montgomery co. after his marriage he moved to berks co. later he moved to lower macugie twp.
john henry christman reared a large family, 7 sons and 5 daus.-jacob, henry, jonas, daniel, nathan, samuel, ephraim, polly, susan, rebecc, sara and lydia
ephraim lived in macungie, jonas in lower macungie, daniel, son of john henry died april 1856, age 45. his widow aged 77, resides with her dau. mrs. edward haines.beneville, one of her sons, was constable of macungie, where is was also engaged in the ice cream busines. daniel, another son, had a shoe store in macugngie.
kunkel, harrison, of trochville, was born in monroe co., feb. 18, 1838, s/o peter g. and susan (kresge) kunkel.
harrison married in 1868 to amanda dory, they had 3 children, ellen, w/o s. behler, annie and harry.
jacob chistman, native of wurtemberg, came here on the ship, princess august, sept 16, 1732, aged 25.he settled in upper milford co., where he died in 1761. his widow eve margaret married 2ndto francis wescoe. jacob christman married and had 7 children; eva w/o melchoir bear, george, jacob, susanna, john, philip and henry.
christman, samuel, the pioneers of this family hailed from holland and setted in what is now monroe co., prior to the rev. war.the family was founded here by two brothers, henry, captured by the indians and he escaped.
daniel christma, married mary andrew. children; elisabeth,catharine, and thomas.thomas married mary smale and they had 12 children, among them were; aaron, mary, lucinda, elisabeth and edwin h. (the last boorn in monroe co., 1852.
henry christman, probably a grandson of one of the immigrants was born in monroe co. he married susana correll and had, elisabeth, w/o abraham altemose, john, samuel, maria, w/o anthony christman, christina, w/o jacob boyer, henry and david. buried at jerusalem ch.
john christman, born june 9, 1809 in monroe co. tailor by trade. he married margaret, d/o john and magdalena (falstack( stroll. children; edward, died age 24, james s., emma e., wf of capt. mc cormich, amanda w/o jonas beers, levi j. and abbie a., w/o henry eschen.
james s. christman, born dec. 31, 1845. he married ellen, d/o samuel and martha (fulton) mc laughlin, oct 7, 1875
samuel b. christman, a teacher of whitehall, was born in hokendauqua, july 4, 1889. he married sarah schuler scott in 1908.
