Been reading of vicious feuding of the Kentucky Sewells for sixty years after the civil war. I have searched for years for my ancestor, Joseph Sewell, b.Kentucky,M.Martha Angeline Sewell, descendant of Harmon family.
Joseph joined the CSA in Tennessee, how long he had lived there or whether he came there to enlist, I do not know.He m. in Monroe County TN after serving. He rec'd a pension for service.
I question whether he was cut off from his family after the war. There was an Uncle Bud Sewell referred to by my grandmother, Jessie Frances Schrimsher.
Any help would be most gratefully appreciated.Thank You. Joseph returned to Jessamine County after the war where his 1st son was born and lived out his life in Monroe/Loudon County area, being buried in Corinth Baptist Church with other family members, NOT Sewells.
