I have seen several references that Thomas Sewell and Henry Sewell, who settled on Sewell's Point, VA are brothers. Does anyone have proof? Or are they just assuming? Thomas Sewell came over on the George in 1619, he was the only passenger of that surname on the list, so he did not come over with Henry as some have previously stated. He was an Indentured Servant to Abraham Piersey, which meant he had to work off at least 7 years to pay off his passage. Henry, on the other had, held several important positions, which back then had to be bought. This indicates Henry had a lot of money. So why would one come over as an indentured servant, and the other seemed to have a lot of money? I would think if one had money the other would too if they were brothers. Has anyone done a DNA test to prove they were brothers?
