Seybert, Seibert, Schaeffer, Shaefer, Shaffer, Shafer, ect. are what I have been told are the same family with different spellings.
I am curious, as recently I have been told that a Hiram with one of these spellings was an M.E. Minister in Ohio.I think he could be my G-Grandfather.
I do have a picture of him and his wife later in their life at my Grandmother's house in Ohio on a visit.Just from the picture, it has been a chore locating his given name and that would be B. H. as has been found. I think that could be Benjamin Hiram S. but only speculation through the naming sequence in the family carrying the Hiram name to my Uncle.
Notes at one time had him from WVa, I don't know how correct they are seems I saw something of him in KY too.I don't know when he died, but do know he married a Sherman that was born in 1857, my G-Grandmother. Sherman's Father died in Ohio but may have been from NY?I know I found his second wife to be from NY.
This is my Mom's maternal side of the family and I am finding it more difficult to trace as I don't have many clues.
B H S. lived to a ripe old age it appears in the picture I think had to have been taken in 1920's or 30's.I think he was born earlier than my G-Grandmother and I think I mentioned she was born in 1857.She and her father have been found on the census. They are in a photo with a couple of my older cousins I never met.Figuring my Grandmother died in 1934 and the age of my Aunt whose children they were, I can't give an exact year.
Would love to learn more of what could be family I don't know.I have no clue to the Father of B.H. S.
