Have not seen any proof, but tradition has the father as Philip and the mother Polly. In the early 1800s several Barger brothers arrived in the part of Armstrong Co. that is now Clairon Co. and all but Benjamin remained there. Benjamin and his wife Maria Isobel Truby lived near her parents on the west bank of the Allegheny River in Perry Twp., Armstrong Co. The land is at Millers Eddy which is on the west bank of the river a few miles downstream from West Monterey which is on the east bank. On Rand McNally you will see the next curve down river. Just around that bend is the Hillville community where the Truby-Rumbaugh Cemetery is located (some call it just Rumbaugh). Here the Bargers are buriedwith my Truby, Lauffer and Rumbaugh ancestors. Also buried there is Maria Isobel's sister Mary Ann Truby and her husband Sebastian Seybert. The first names may confuse you, but the German Lutherans christened all the girls with the first name Maria and all the boys with some form of Johann/Johannes/Hans, etc. So the first name may have been just a christening one or one already given by the family.
