Yes, in Blain, Perry Co PA a David Shatto is mentioned in a family Bible that the historical society there has in their possession. In handwritten notes it mentions a David Shatto born April 17th 1817. He was born in what at the time was Cumberland county, now Perry. He was a farmer who moved to Missouri, and in 1839 he married Rebecca R Duncan in Perry county. He died July 29 1889 in Altamont, MO in Daviess county.
He was the son of another David Shatto out of his second marriage Julianna Gardner.
David Sr was born June 23, 1780 in York PA and died February 3rd 1841 in Perry county, of smallpox. His second wife, Julianna Gardner, was the daughter of William Gardner and Catherine Kitch. He was a farmer and a talented woodworker, whose craft still survives in private collections elsewhere.
David Sr was the son of Jean Nichols Chateau and (theoretically) Elizabeth DeFulton. Jean Chateau was married to Eva Marie. They emigrated to Philadelphia on the ship the Loyal Judith from England. The Shatto/Chateau family, Huguenots, fled France to Germany sometime between 1500 and 1600. Jean Chateau and Eva Marie left Germany for England, as he was a Protestant and she a Catholic, moving to Pennsylvania shortly afterward.
