I have in my records one Joseph Shears born in Paignton, Devon abt 1796 and died in Bonavista, Newfoundland in 1864. He was a trader associated with the Nfld fishery. He was also a Justice of the Peace (JP) at the time of his death. Some of his descendants are still living in Newfoundland. I still have not established if there is a relationship to my Shears family.
