Welcome to a nightmare. Some members of the Limerick branch were in Bermondsey (Surrey/London) before the Great Famine. In one family alone (that of William c.1812/13-1857) the name has been recorded as SHEARING (1838), SHEARON (1839), SHEARN (1841), SHERRIN (1849), SHEAN and SHEAM in error (1851), SHERRING (1852), SHERIN and SHERING (1857), SHEARING (1858 onwards).
These Bermondsey members had links with the MULCAHY, DUGGAN and MURPHY families and may have come from the Croom area of Co. Limerick. WILLIAM SHEARRING was Mayor of Bermondsey 1917/18.
Much information on these members available. Anyone out there with links to them?
