In the name of God Amen the fourth day of September in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Six Hundred and Fiftie Eight I Robert Shelford of Littleberry in the Countie of Essex yeoman being sick of bodie but of perfect mynde and memory praise be unto almighty God for the same yet knowing that my time upon earth is but shorte and my life uncertaine I do hereby make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in forme following firste and primarily I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my maker saviour and redeemer and my bodie I commit to the earth from which it was taken to be buried in the churchyard of Littleberry by the discretion of my deputies hereafter named;
ITEM I give and bequeath unto Richard Shelford my sonne and his hayres for ever all my freehold lands lying in Brooke Walden in the County of Essex upon condicion that my sonne Richard or his hayres do pay or cause to be paid unto my daughter Mary Shelford the full and whole sum of seven pounds of lawful money of England . All the whole payment at or within my now dwellings howso situate in Littleberry aforesaid, when she shall accomplish the age of One and Twenty years and for want of such payment I give the said Freehold Land unto Mary Shelford my daughter aforesaid and to her heyres for ever.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto Ellen my wellbeloved wife all that customary messuage or tenement wherein I now dwell with all the barnes, yards, stables and buildings, and all those my customary landes and freehold lands within the parish of Littleberry aforesaid for and dureinge her naturall life and after her demise I give and bequeathe the said customary messuage or tenement with all the barnes yardes stables and buildings and all those customary landes unto William Shelford my sonne and to his heyres for ever upon condicion that my said sonne William Shelford shall pay or cause to be payed unto my daughter Mary Shelford the full and whole sum of sixtie pounds of lawful money of England within three years after the decease of Ellen my wife and for want of true payment thereof to bee made as aforesaid I give and bequeath all that house wherein I now dwell unto Mary Shelford my daughter and her heyres for ever.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto Mary Shelford my daughter the full and whole sum of fiftie pounds of lawful monie of England to bee paid unto her when she shall accomplish the age of one and twentie years or within one whole yeare after her daye of marriage which shall first happen by my Executrixe herafter named. All the rest of my moveable goods and chattels I give and bequeathe unto Ellen my wife whom I make and ordaine my sole Executrixe of this my last Will and Testament, revoking all other wills by mee formerly made
