June 12, 1859 in Randolph Co., AL He died Aug. 6,1905 in Stroud, Chambers Co., AL He was buried at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Stroud. He married abt 1876 to Nancy Elizabeth LNU. She was born Aug. 3, 1862 in AL and died Mar. 6, 1929 in Stroud, Chambers Co., AL. She was also buried at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Children listed:
George R. b. Oct. 1877 Mattie Pearl b. Aug. 1884 Lucy V. b. Nov. 1888 Ermer W. b. June 1893
Newton's father was Andrew Shelnut b. abt 1832. Andrew was the son of Thomas A.J. Shelnut and Jane Wakefield. Thomas was the son of Andrew Shelnut and Elizabeth Gentry. Hope this helps.
