Shipleys often married cousins, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a relationship between Jacob Mauk SHIPLEY & Mary J. SHIPLEY.
Watch for other spellings of MAUK = MACK/MOCK, etc.
I'm sure they all go back somehow to Adam--Adam SHIPLEY of Maryland, also the one in the Bible.:-)

Richard SHIPLEY (ca. 1755 - bef. July 1804, Sullivan Co., TN) m. ca. 1777,Elizabeth ROLLER (ca. 1755 - 1840+).They had

William Parker SHIPLEY (ca. 1785 - bef. 1830), who m. Sarah ERWIN, b. ca. 1790, TN, & had

David SHIPLEY (25 Dec. 1822, TN - 16 Je. 1899, Sullivan Co., TN, bu Mowell Cem.) who m.
Rachel SHIPLEY (28 Feb. 1820/1 - 22 Aug. 1892) dau/o Benjamin SHIPLEY & Catherine WELLS.

David (57 in 1880)& Rachel(58 in 1880) had

Sarah Catherine (1 Apr. 1845 - 21 Nov. 1912)
George Mack (8 May 1846 - 10 Sep. 1925)
Benjamin Franklin (Aug. 1848 - 1927)
Endymion "Dimon" (31 Dec. 1849 [28 in '80] - 1 Oct. 1919)
William Park (25 May 1851 - 4 July 1936)
Nathan (20 Aug. 1855 [22 in '80] - 20 Feb. 1923)
Martha Ellen (Aug. 1861 [18 in '80] - 1901).

I do not know how Eli, b. ca. 1754, and Richard, b. 1755, were related.
Records of Washington Co., TN, supposedly show that Benjamin came from Maryland before 1784, & had brothers Joshua, Adam, & Nathaniel, but I haven't seen those records.
Also, in 1787, a petition was supposedly signed by Benjamin, Conrad, Thomas, Richard, & Eli.I have not seen the petition, either.

I do have Robert BARNES' MD Marriages, which shows the marriage of Eli SHIPLEY, 16 Feb. 1782, by Harford Co. license, toElizabeth KINGSTON.

Shipleys of MD, 2002 shows this ancestry for Adam C.:Benjamin SHIPLEY (b. bef. 1750 - will pr.Feb. 1803) m1. Catherine "Kitty" WELLS & m2. Elizabeth, named in his will).
The will said "all my children" but only named Nathan & James.
He was called Benjamin SHIPLEY of Jonesboro, TN, and he had land near Buffalo Ridge, Washington Co., TN.

Spouse has not been identified for Benjamin's son James SHIPLEY (ca. 1770 - bef. Apr. 1834).James had Nathan, Benjamin, (1800 - 1870)& Adam (ca. 1802 - July 1840).

Benjamin (12 Mar. 1800, TN - 27 July 1870) m. 23 Aug. 1831, Washington Co., TN, Margaret MILLER (5 Apr. 1806 - 12 Apr. 1881).

Adam C. SHIPLEY (2 Nov. 1835, TN - 20 Apr. 1916) m. Sarah C. ERWIN (28 Oct. 1838, TN - 28 Oct. 1885, Indian Springs, Sull. Co., TN).
Death record is at Pilot.FamilySearch.org, giving dates & naming his parents.

Pilot also has death for Edna Evelyn HAUK (1865 - 7 Je. 1951, Indian Springs, Sull., TN) dau/o Adam SHIPLEY & Sarah ERWIN.

FamilySearch, Dist. 7, Sullivan Co., TN, 1880, all b. TN, SHIPLEY
Adam, 44; Sarah, 42; Mary J., 20; Edny [Edna] E., 15; John L., 10; Eugene W., 7; Ida May 5; Henry A., 3.Margaret, mother, 74.
They were next to ERWIN, James, 67, & George, 32.

My head is spinning trying to sort out all of these!Good Luck!
