Adrian Daily Telegram, Monday, January 14, 2008, pg A2 Claude Rex Shively Obit AMHERST, Mass. — Claude Rex Shively, 88, formerly of Adrian, died Dec. 21, 2007, in the Amherst Nursing Home, Amherst, Mass. He was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Cassville, W.V., a son of the late Michael and Izez Ramsey Shively. Mr. Shively was a forester by trade, receiving his degree in Forestry from West Virginia University. He also worked as Superintendent of Parks for the cities of Adrian and Ypsilanti, Mich. In 1984 he retired from Merillat Industries in Adrian. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Adrian. He was a WW II veteran of the United States Army serving in Italy, France and Germany with the 179th Infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart. He is survived by a daughter and spouse, Bobbie and Ron Helenski of Belchertown, Mass.; a son and spouse, Michael and Cindy Shively of Blissfield, Mich.; two grandchildren, Beth Ann Helinski of Storrs, Conn., and Scott Michael Helinski of Turners Falls, Mass.; a sister, Maxine Rogers of Oakland, Md.; a niece and spouse, Ruth and Gerald Golden of Freedom, Pa.; and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Robert Shively. Private burial was made in the East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, W.V. Arrangements were made by Dering’s Funeral Home of Morgantown. I do not research this family.
