I live in a farmhouse in Owen Co. (Spencer), IN, built (around 1909, I believe) and occupied by Thomas Jacob (TJ) Shively (1855-1945) and Amanda (nee Slawson) (1859-1951). Both are buried in Edwardsport, Knox Co., IN, where they had lived prior to moving to Spencer. TJ maintained an 800-tree apple orchard on this property.
I would love to connect with descendants of TJ and Amanda--hoping that someone might have early photos of the orchard, home, and property.
TJ and Amanda's children were as follows (not necessarily in birth order):
--William E. (1885-1968) m. Florence Knox (1888-1978), Indianapolis and St. Petersburg, FL [buried in Edwardsport, but can't find obits or whether they had any children]
--Esther m. Ben. Dale Keeney (1872-1959), Seattle, WA
--Wilhelmina (never married; buried in Edwardsport)
--Alice (d. 1920) m. Martin Leroy Cassell (1882-1947) They had 3 children: Martin Leroy, Sylvia Elizabeth, and William Walker (1916-1943)
--Barney M. (1892-1921) m. Mary Gretchen Lawson. They had 1 son: John T., born 1920. The widow then married James Egnor (Spencer, IN). --John T. then grows up to marry Julia Martin (Wolcott, IN) and they settle in Elgin, IL. They have 3 children: Elizabeth (m. Sharf), Nancy, John Thomas II (b. 1959)
