Thanks for the info. I didn't have the information that you sent. I don't have access to the actual census, only an index through Ancestry.com. I take it that you have access and the names were the same in the 1860 Logan Co. census. If so, was Jacob listed in the 1860 census?
With the information you provided, here's what I think I have. Susanna Shively was my GGM, married to Charles Place on July 21, 1864. (According to the census info, she would have been 13-14 yrs old and according to her death certificate, her birthday was listed as September 27, 1852, which would have made her about eleven.) On the death certificate, her mother was listed as Sebonia Supor, born in PA and her father as Jacob Shively, born in OH, and she was listed as born in OH. She died January 1, 1930. I have a reference stating that Charles Place and David Shively operated boats on the Miami and Erie? canal that ran just south of Melrose, OH. Here's the stretch of imagination. I have a marriage certificate for Sedona (Shedona) Shivler (Shiveler) which I think is really Shively and Lewis Place (It has the "mark" of Lewis Place so I assume he couldn't and be extension probably couldn't read) with a marriage date of January 28, 1863 On the marriage certificate for Susanna Shively and Charles Place, Sadona Place gave her consent for the marriage of Susanna and Charles. Charles was over 21 so I assume she was giving consent for Susanna to marry at at age 11 to 14 yrs old (she also made her "mark" on the certificate so my assumption is the same as for Lewis) . I beleieve that Charles Place's parents were Lewis Place and Christiana Faust, that Christiana Faust Place and Jacob Shively died, that then Sedona Supor Shively and Lewis Place married and that both had children from their previous marriages. Back to reality. Charles and Susanna had at least three children with only one surviving infancy. That was my GF Amos Jacob Place (registered at birth as Amos Joseph Place) Thanks again. Chuck Place
