This may sound like a rude thought just, meant to be question. But I was wondering just how many of the Shively researchers out there are actually sending off for any copies of census, marriages, deaths or births,(certified that is)? As one knows without this kind of verification it really isn't much proof to say add to a book,or publication. Now I know there are some records that we may never be able to aquire, but even by aquiring copies of military,or shop records from hotels ,boarding houses ect. They are all important in varifiying proof of who, what ,when and where. We can all keep passing around probable info, and sugjested info, but it would be much more informative to have such info catalogged for searchers to be better informed. Just like in my case ,my ancestor(grtgrndf)tombstone reads one thing yet I have other info stating different ,so I have sent for a death certificate. If one is not available, send to the state capital where you think they are from and request a search in the archives for any info that can be certified for you,it may cost a bit(and comming from someone who lives on dissability i know that can be a problem at times) but do it a bit at a time,if they died after the SS cards were started ,send for the applications, perhaps a name was miss spelled, are incorrectly written or understood,if in the Cival War,1812,rev,WWI-WWII,Korea,Nam all should have some records of your kin, send for all certified ,verifiable proof. Then share it if you'd like to help other's,and then perhaps you will find cousins. So check it out find proof,so it costs a little ,it's better to know the most truth you can and preserve it with others because it could be lost forever if we do ever (God Forbid)go to war. Just a bit for you all to think on. Please remember to read old maps too,and the times when lines changed. Good luck to all, Dawn"Morningstar"Trent
