The 1830 Census for Clear Creek, Ashland Co., Ohio, p. 109 for John Shively and Family
01 0 1 0 10 1 0 0 1
This would indicate that Israel Shively and his sister, Margaret, who married Daniel Kling are John's children.
In the 1830 census for Philip Shively and Household in Nimishillen, Stark Co., Ohio Says: 1 male 30-40 1 female 20-30
Philip lives near Frederick Shively and John Hyett (Eva Shively's husband). They are siblings.
Did you go to the Shively family website?
www.rootsweb.com/~inmiami/chittick.html lists the Shively's who are buried in the Chittick Cemetery in Deer Creek, Miami Co., Indiana. Philip (Israel's son is buried there as well as his wife Cynthia).
I have carefully observed everything, even name identities. Conrad Shively of Louisville, Stark Co., Ohio made out a will and lists all of his children including: John Shively, Philip Shively, Catherine Burgert, Frederick Shively etc. I find that John named his last kid Obediah and Catherine named one of her sons Obediah. I find that Obediah Burgert lived in Hershey, St. Croix Co., Wisconsin in the 1880 Census.
The name Obediah was unheard of in the SHively family. Since John Shively's son Israel named his 1st kid Philip, that would indicate that John, Philip, and Catherine Burgert are siblings. I'M JUST TELLING YOU WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE IS TELLING US.
John also named his children Catherine, Mary, and Eliza. Even though they are names that are common in the Shively family, we have to look at the names Odediah (especially) and Philip and Catherine, Mary, and Eliza combined. John Shively was born in Pennsylvannia.
You imply that you don't have a birthdate for Philip. I saw in the 1850 Census for Mifflin, Ashland Co., Ohio that Philip 14 OH and Sarah 12 OH lived with Elizabeth Ream (whoever she is).
You indicated that John Shively purchased some items from Philip Shively's barn. So far, it looks like that they are brothers and the children of Conrad Shively and Mary Moyer of Louisville, OH.
