I am horribly confused, and hope that someone can straighten this mess out for me!
I am descended from Margaret Carolyn Shock, d/o Andrew Jackson Shock, s/o George Washington Shock. All three can be found on the Faulkner County censuses from 1880 onwards. On the 1850 Arkansas census, a John Shock, 57, b. PA, Blacksmith, can be found in Pulaski Co. In Van Buren Co, Independence Twp, is my George Shock, 22, b. KY, and wife Amanda G, 20, b. TN.In Conway County, there is a John Shock, 79, b. PA, Blacksmith, listed with a T.H. Moss or Mass family.
Now, here comes my confusion:According to everything I've found on the internet, supposedly my George W. is the son of John, 57 (b. ca 1793), living in Pulaski Co.John is supposedly the s/o John, Sr., who was born 1771, PA, and died 1854 in Boone Co, KY; and John, Sr., is the son of Henry the immigrant.
Looking over information found on the John, Sr., of Boone, MO, it looks as if he never had a son named John. Can anyone explain who belongs to whom?I'm also mighty curious about the John Shock, 79 (so born ca 1771), found on the Arkansas 1850 census. This is driving me nuts, and I can't seem to get past all of the conflicting information!
Thanks so much!
