Hiram E. Shorey, born Litchfield, Maine August 9, 1862; died Chicago March 29, 1944; son of Edward Shorey and Louise E. Purinton, was one for the founders of Rotary CLub of Chicago on February 23, 1905.
As part of Rotary International's 100th Anniversary celebration, the Rotary Clubs in the State of Maine, USA, are undertaking a Centennial Project in Hiram Shorey's honor by constructing in Litchfield the "HIram E. Shorey Family History Center and Library."
The Family History Center will be dedicated by the Rotary's world president on Saturday, July 24, 2004 in Litchfield, Maine. We would welcome the participation any and all Shoreys coming through the Edward Shorey line.
Please contact me for further details.
I am interested in learning about any descendents of Edward Shorey and Louise E. Purinton, of Litchfield. Louise's father was Rev. Stephen Purinton, pastor of the Free Will Baptist Church in Litchfield.
