Godfrey Shreve was born in 1758, probably in MA.He served eight years in the Revolutionary War and received a very early pension as he had been terribly wounded in the groin.
He was married to Ruth.Another source says that she was a Hand, but I do not have a copy of the record. He received a bounty land warrant in Ohio where he and Ruth went to live.
In 1826, his pension was transferred to New York.Ruth (Hand?) Shreve is said to have died in Ohio in 1821.
Godfrey died in 1835 and is buried in a small farm cemetery near Cambridge, Washington County, NY.Buried next to him is his probable sister, Elizabeth Shrieve Cornell.(Don't worry about the spelling, they seemed to vary it among siblings.)
Based on the pension record and the fact that he went to NY, I don't think he had any children.
