In my search for my PHILIP SHRIVER's parents, I checked out Columbia County, OH.
The David you are mentioning , if I have connected the right DAVID SHRIVER, was born in 1797 MD who had a daughter Catherine Shriver Perdue. He is not listed as the son of JACOB SHRIVER.However, would fit in as DAVID SHRIVER's grandson.
In 1830 US Census Columbiana County, OH were listed: Benjamin Shriver David Shriver Goerge Shriver b. 27 Dec 1810 (Jacob's son) Israel Shriver Jacob Shriver (Elijah Jacob Shriver--Jacob's son?) Jacob Shriver 1779 (Sr.)
1840 Ignatius Shriver Jacob Shriver (Elijah Jacob Shriver-Jacob's son???) John W. Shriver (son of Jacob) Samuel Shriver Samuel Shriver
If you pull up those census, look at the ages, then match to your known status, that at lease would confirm is DAVID is one and the same. Also check the others to seee if connected to your Shriver.
1820 JACOB SHRIVER b. 20 Aug 1779 Adams Co. d. 24 Mar 1851 Columbiana OH.
Since these other Shriver's appear in 1830, perhaps they are related to your DAVID.
Let me know what you come up with and keep an Eye on my Shriver ancestor, Philip Shriver. Ed
