My great grandfather was Burton Siddall. He married Emma Pilling. They had five children, Ernest, Samuel, Sarah, Lucy & Charles. Ernest served in the Army during the first World War, but died of pneumonia soon after returning home, presumably a result of being in the trenches. He never married. Samuel lived until the early 1970's and was married but had no children. Sarah married Thomas Bridge, a hay & straw merchant. She lived until July 1973, aged 86 and unfortunately died within two hours of her sister Lucy, my grandmother, and neither knew that the other had died. The event was so unusual, it was reported on the front page of the Radcliffe Times. Unfortunately, Sarah was also childless. My grandmother, Lucy, married George Johnson and had one daughter, my mother, Marjorie who is still living aged 72. Charles unfortunately died as an infant. I have never had the time to do much research on the family, and I don't have any exact dates of births, deaths and marriages, but my mother has given me lots of information and I know that most of the Siddall family are buried in Radcliffe Parish Churchyard, St Thomas's in Radcliffe and Stand churchyard in Whitefield. If anyone has any information about Burton Siddall's descendants I would be very interested to know.
