Records from Lancaster Co. in the 1700s and early 1800s are certainly difficult to come by!
There are Bar/Barr/Bear connections to my line (according to the compilations of Jane Evans Best in "Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage") but most of these are in the 1600s.Of a more recent vintage, I have a Leah Bear who married Martin Kendig;they were born in about 1774, I have no further information.
I also have a Jacob Barr born 1755 who married Anna Kendig in 1782 in Lancaster Co.And finally I have Sarah Barr born 1805 in Frederick Co., Virgina, who married Thornton Washington Haines in 1823 in Maryland. This Sarah died in Franklin Co., Ohio (Columbus) in 1832.
Regarding the Howrys, Henry Howry b. 1803 married Catharine Sides, b. 1814.I believe that Catharine was Samuel Sides' (b. 1799) sister, although this is unproven. All of these individuals lived in Warren Co. (Waynesville or Lebanon) Ohio.
I am aware of the names Peter Sides, and another John Sides, from Lancaster Co. histories and other sources.I have not made any connections to them. The Sides name is also vexing, as it now appears in many forms including Seitz, Sites, and Sides. There is a website that seeking to collect information on all such derivative names, including DNA testing.I don't have that address at my fingertips but you can find it referenced on this forum. You may find this helpful.
