DIED. At his residence, in Chatham County, N. C. December 14th, 1861, CRABTRED SILER, aged near 56 years. The deceased a few weeks since was called upon to witness the death of his only son, a member of the 26th regiment N. C. troops, stationed near Carolina City. Whilst there he contracted the diseased which lead to his departure; and it is hoped to a more perfect union with Christ. He was a kind friend, a good neighbor, a tender father and a loving husband. To know him was to esteem him for his high sense of honor, His unceasing industry, and his kind heartedness. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters and numerous relatives and friends to mourn his absence, and may that God whom he secretly worshipped bind up their wounded spirits, and sanctify this their affliction to their everlasting good.R.
